0–1 WW Point per serving
A fast, flavorful, and nutrient-dense plant-based snack elevated with warm toasted sesame oil and crunchy flaky sea salt. Perfect as a quick appetizer, movie night snack, or a low-calorie protein boost for your Weight Watchers journey.
Ingredients
- 170 grams Frozen edamame pods (in the shell)
- 4 cups Water (for boiling or steaming)
- 1 tsp Pure toasted sesame oil (or sesame oil cooking spray for 0 WW Points)
- 1 tsp Flaky sea salt (such as Maldon or coarse kosher salt)
- 1 tsp Toasted white or black sesame seeds
- Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes or shichimi togarashi for a spicy kick
Instructions
Boil or Steam the Edamame:
- Stovetop: Bring 4 cups of salted water to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan. Add frozen edamame pods and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until warm and tender. Drain thoroughly.
- Microwave (Alternative): Place frozen pods in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 tbsp of water. Cover with a damp paper towel and microwave on high for 3 to 4 minutes. Drain excess water.
Toss with Sesame Oil:
- Transfer the hot, drained edamame pods into a mixing bowl. Drizzle with 1 tsp of toasted sesame oil (or spray evenly with sesame oil spray) and toss well to coat the pods evenly.
Garnish and Serve:
- Transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle generously with flaky sea salt and toasted sesame seeds (and optional red pepper flakes).
- Serve immediately while hot or warm, alongside a small empty bowl for the discarded pods.
Notes
Pop the pod between your teeth to strip out the tender edamame beans inside—the sea salt and toasted sesame on the outer shell deliver maximum flavor with every bite!
