Ingredients

  • Fresh Baby Spinach: 2 packed cups (fresh or frozen)
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk: 1 cup (or preferred low-calorie plant milk)
  • Vanilla Protein Powder: 1 scoop (whey isolate or plant-based protein)
  • Almond Butter: 1 tablespoon (smooth, unsweetened)
  • Frozen Banana: ½ medium (adds natural sweetness and thick texture)
  • Ice Cubes: ½ cup (optional, for extra coldness and thickness)
  • Chia Seeds or Flaxseeds (Optional): 1 teaspoon (for added fiber)

Instructions

  1. Layer Liquid & Greens First: Pour the unsweetened almond milk into your high-speed blender, followed by the fresh baby spinach. Blend on high for 15–20 seconds until the greens are completely liquefied.
  2. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add the frozen banana slice, vanilla protein powder, almond butter, and ice cubes.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed for 45–60 seconds until the mixture is completely creamy, vibrant green, and smooth.
  4. Adjust Consistency: If the shake is too thick, add a splash more almond milk; if you prefer it thicker, add a few more ice cubes and blend briefly.
  5. Serve: Pour into a tall glass and enjoy immediately!

Notes

  • Keep it Low-Fat: Stick to 1 tablespoon of almond butter to keep the fat content controlled while retaining that delicious nutty richness and healthy fats.
  • Meal Prep Hack: Portion spinach, banana slices, and chia seeds into freezer-safe bags ahead of time. In the morning, just dump the bag contents into the blender with milk, protein powder, and almond butter!
  • Protein Pick: Whey protein isolate or a smooth plant-based protein powder (pea/rice blend) works best for texture without extra carbs or fats.
